THE AIDS MONUMENT WILL
MEMORIALIZE the AIDS crisis & CELEBRATE the lives of those who have passed
HONOR the organizations and institutions of change
INFORM this and future generations about the current state of HIV/AIDS resources, prevention, care, and…
SO THAT PEOPLE CAN
Upload memorials, including stories, videos and images of lost loved ones.
Have greater reach to honor the caregivers, activists and community leaders who fought for and continue to fight for an end of HIV/AIDS
Access links to information on HIV/AIDS prevention and education, while raising awareness about the history and current state of the disease, AND encourage the spark in conversation without stigma of living with HIV/AIDS.
The AIDS Monument will be in the heart of West Hollywood Park's $86 Million renovation. The land for the Monument was generously donated by the City of West Hollywood. The Monument site is south of the intersection of Santa Monica Blvd and San Vicente Blvd, across from the Pacific Design Center and north of the West Hollywood Library.
THE CAUSE ENDURES….There are rising HIV infection rates in varying populations
A salient TIME for a monument to REMEMBER, BY NAME, the lives of Americans who died
The PIONEERS of the AIDS epidemic are retiring or have passed
EQUALITY for many in the LGBT Community can be directly CORRELATED TO THE FIGHT AGAINST AIDS
